Uniform Trust Code Overview

Connecticut adopted the Uniform Trust Code (UTC) in the beginning of 2020. This brought major changes to trust law and established a variety of rules regarding the creation, modification, and termination of trusts.

But what does it mean to you? And what does it mean to your clients?

On November 18 at 4:00 p.m., join Attorney Ruth Fortune from Czepiga Daly Pope & Perri for an overview of the Uniform Trust Code. You'll learn about:

• The key provisions that cannot be overridden by the terms of the trust

• Ways in which beneficiaries will be better informed

• The fiduciary duties and liabilities of a trustee

• The provisions in the UTC that outline directed trusts

• Ways in which beneficiaries have enhanced protection from creditors

• Domestic asset protection trusts (DAPT) and their ability to insulate assets from creditors
